Services offered by up there

Website design and development

Based on your instructions, up there will custom design and develop a fully-functioning website for you, or will redesign an existing site. Services include logo design, graphics display, registration with search engines, web hosting and domain name assistance.

Website support

Up there gives free help desk services (by email or telephone) & basic site maintenance for one year. It also provides tuition in basic editing and website maintenance, if desired.

Design & development process

Stage 1 - Initial proposal (free, no obligation)

You provide information concerning your proposed site's purpose, likely content and approximate size. In response, up there will give you a free initial design proposal with an approximate costing & timeline. If you accept this proposal, your website will proceed to Stage 2.

To initiate this process, contact up there by phone (03 5341 3335) or email to discuss your ideas, or alternatively you can submit online the short Design Proposal Form given on up there's Contact page.

Stage 2 - Agreement on design specifications

Up there will consult with you to define the specifications for your website, enabling a firm costing and timeline.

Your planning input is especially valuable at this stage and you may like to use up there's Website Planning Guide below to help define your requirements.

Stage 3 - Prototype development

You supply the basic content (in hard copy or digital form) for the site and up there will develop a working prototype for your approval.

Stage 4 - Final development

The prototype is accepted or modified and you supply the rest of the content for the site. Arrangements are made for web hosting.

Stage 5 - Your site goes live on the web

Your finished site is mounted on a web server and registered with search engines.

Stage 6 - Ongoing support by up there

Whether you would like up there to maintain your site or you wish to do it yourself, up there will continue to support you at no extra cost over the first twelve months.

Website Planning Guide

  1. Content counts most

What information do you want your website to convey? What information is your target audience likely to be seeking? Collect your material in advance and try to arrange it into separate sections or topics that will form the basis of your website's structure.
  2. Organisation & navigation structure

Information that is clearly organised into easily recognised subject areas with meaningful topic headings will be most easily found by your site visitors. Once you have decided on your main sections, then organise your material into sub-topics and think about the connections between the various parts which can be hyperlinked for quick user-friendly navigation.
  3. The look & style

Think about how you would like your website to look. What colours do you prefer? What style: bright and bold, or quieter and more subtle? Collect examples of other websites whose appearance you like or dislike.
  4. Graphics

What pictures would you like to illustrate your material? Do you have a logo? Graphical elements can enhance your site but remember that large images can be slow to load.
  5. Interactivity

How would you like your site visitors to be able to interact with you, eg by email or form submission, etc?
  6. Special needs

Is your audience likely to need large, bold print; printer-friendly pages; password-protected sections?
